Bud Olson
Bud Olson is an 8th grade history teacher at Foothill Middle School in the Sierra Unified School District in Fresno County. He attended Sierra High and Fresno State University, finishing with a BA and MA in history. After teaching at Reedley High for three years, he has taught 30 more years in the mountain area. Growing up in the mountains, he had many contacts with the old families, enabling him to have access to many pictures and old stories. Once he was hooked by preserving the history of our community, he has worked many years to collect the pictures in this collection.

Bud is the President of the Eastern Fresno County Historical Society, a group of people dedicated to saving the past of our area. They have acquired a site from the Sierra Unified School District and are busily assembling buildings and artifacts for the community to see.

Foothill Middle School 8th graders are currently being taught a unit of Local History each year using many of the pictures in this collection. The hope is that this collection and the efforts of Bud Olson, and the history society, will bring more interest to the past history of our mountains.
